In addition to our QP1 & QP2 Certification, FDT has been recently certified by the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) for QP8 Certification: Installation of Polymer Coatings and Surfacings on Concrete and Other Cementitious Surfaces.
SSPC QP8 Certification is a new program intended to be used by facility owners (or their protective coating specialists or specifying engineers) to ensure that contractors hired to install polymer coatings or surfacings on concrete and other cementitious surfaces in commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities have the primary technical capabilities and organizational structure necessary to do the work.
In order to achieve certification, companies are assessed in several key areas:
- management procedures
- technical knowledge
- quality control procedures
- personnel qualifications
- safety, health, and environmental compliance.
Companies seeking certification must also demonstrate their ability to: •perform substrate evaluation, repair, and treatment •conduct surface preparation operations •install coatings and surfacings over concrete-based substrates •implement their quality program in the field •meet the conditions and restrictions specified by the owner

Dan Brewington, Grover Lee & Jeff Jones Receive HIGHEST LEVEL OF NACE COATING INSPECTOR CERTIFICATION! Houston, Texas…NACE International announces that Dan Brewington, Grover Lee & Jeff Jones are certified at the highest level of CIP certification as a NACE Certified Coating Inspector-Level 3. Each of them successfully completed two intensive week-long training courses in addition to a two-hour, oral peer-reviewed exam.
The NACE International Coating Inspector Training & Certification Program is the only certification program that provides a standard of training for coating inspectors and improved inspection of coating application work that is recognized worldwide. Thousands of governmental agency and corporate specifications call for NACE Certification.
Since the program’s inception in 1983, more than 20,000 individuals have been recognized at different levels of coating inspector certification. Presently, there are more than 3,200 individuals worldwide who enjoy premier recognition as a NACE Certified Coating Inspector-Level 3.
In the presentation of technical material used in the program, frequent references are made to specific standards on topics such as test methods, inspection procedures, materials requirements, recommended practices, and performance criteria. Because the coating inspector will encounter a variety of specifications, the program incorporates standards from domestic and international standard making organizations. The Coating Inspector Program is intended to present technology reflective of the standards as well as current industry practices.
Each level of Coating Inspector Program involves a combination of lecture, demonstration, hands on training both in class and, for the Level 1 course, also at an off-site industrial facility. Case studies, practice labs, and practice quizzes are also included. Multiple qualified instructors present the courses, which conclude with both written and practical exams. Congratulations on your accomplishment!
